and at Anti-Immersive Gallery through March 31st

It is often argued that the best way to see a work of art is to experience it in person. But the reality of this assertion is combated by the fact that most art, world-renowned or otherwise, is unobtainable in its physical state. When this is considered, much art instead serves a more dynamic and accessible presence through digitally mediated outlets like the Internet. The Internet therefore, instead of being brushed aside as a secondary form of viewing in comparison to 'the real thing', must be seriously considered as a purposeful and correct form of viewing.

This show was created as an initiative to provide a dialogue between the real and its doppelganger by not only showcasing the actual artworks in the Student Life Gallery at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, but also within the virtual gallery setting of Anti-Immersive Gallery.

Each individual room in this iteration of Anti-Immersive Gallery was designed according to the specifications of the artist's vision of an ideal or fantastical situation to insert their artwork. What resulted was a conglomeration of disparate scenarios unified by a common concept in a virtual setting.
